There are many causes of excess hair; hormone imbalances due to puberty, pregnancy or menopause, heredity, medications, some temporary hair removal methods , scars, certain disorders, stress and emotional state. Your electrologists will take your medical history to alert them to any underlying reason for the hair growth allowing them to better determine the treatment program right for you.
Hair grows from a follicle in your skin. You can have thousands of follicles per square inch of skin. At the end of each hair is a root which is fed from the papilla. In order for the hair to be removed permanently, the papilla must be destroyed. Electrolysis does this in one of three ways:
Galvanic Current
Creates a chemical reaction that dissolves the papilla. A slower, permanent method.
Thermolysis Current
Creates a "flash" of heat that burns the papilla. A faster method, but sometimes not as accurate or thorough as galvanic.
Blend Method
Uses both thermolysis and galvanic currents in unison. This is the most effective method. It is fast, permanent and comfortable.
